Sister Priscilla was called to new life on May 31

SISTER OF PROVIDENCE Sister Priscilla St. Pierre, formerly known as Sister Mary Arthur, died on May 31, 2023 in the 67th year of her religious life. Born in Brunswick, Maine, she was the daughter of Arthur and Alice (LaLiberte) St. Pierre. A graduate of Brunswick High School, she was one of nine children in the family.

Sister Priscilla entered the Sisters of Providence Congregation in 1957 and ministered for many years in the dietary and housekeeping departments at the Providence Mother House and Infirmary, and later served at the former Greylock Rest in Adams, Mass., and at Our Lady of Providence Children’s Center, formerly known as Brightside, in West Springfield. From 1972 through 1985, Sister Priscilla was a technician’s aide in the Oncology Department at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. After participating in the Hospice Training Program, she volunteered in the local hospice program.

Then Sister Priscilla ministered as a teacher’s assistant at People’s Institute Child Care in Northampton until 1986. She received an Elder Recreation Services Certificate from Greenfield Community College and assumed the role of Activities Assistant in the Adult Day Care at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, where she served for 13 years. From 1993 to 1995, she was a member of the Massachusetts Council for Activities Professionals.

Following her retirement in 1999, Sister became the assistant sacristan for Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel at Providence Place and volunteered in the Activities Department. Sister Priscilla also delighted many in her role as a professional clown, know as “Jellybean”.

Sister Priscilla is survived by her Sisters in Community, three nieces and a nephew. The Wake will be held on June 5, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at Providence Place, 5 Gamelin Street, Holyoke, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Providence Place Chapel.
